Learning Log No. 39

Eli

Our first year of homeschool went pretty well! I was able to work on parts of Math that I had trouble with in previous grades. I worked on my times table and improved my memorization with them. I learned how to design characters to print in 3D! I learned some interesting stories in Ancient History and some cool things in Science. I was able to discover what types of curriculum that I enjoy and types that I don't (I am more of a 'workbook' student and less of a 'hands-on' student). I think this will help with finding curriculum for future homeschool years.

This year I learned some pretty important and interesting things in Science (about planets, marine animals, insects...). I learned how to make some interesting 'homes' out of Legos and challenging marble runs. My favorite thing this year was watching our little caterpillars transform and then 'hold' them before they flew away! I enjoyed creating art with different tools - scratch art, clay, paint. Overall, I think I learned the most in Math. I understood most of the topics well enough to score 80% or higher. Sometimes I answered more questions just so I could hit 100%!

I learned a lot this year. In the beginning of this school year, I thought I couldn't read well, but now I am reading all sorts of books and having fun with it! I started out with K Math in The Good and The Beautiful curriculum, until we realized it was too easy for me! I did great with Math Mammoth for first grade. I am now counting my own money! I counted out all of my coins with Mom's help and ended up with $8.28 total. I was able to buy something with the money I counted. I think this is my favorite type of Math!
